Vista (& above) Event Triggers

Is there any way to schedule tasks on a Event ID (issued by an application/service posted to the Windows Event Log) in a similar manner to that provided by the underlying OS task scheduling framework for these newer O/S's (Windows 7, Server 2008, & Vista - I think). If possible some sample code would be appreciated.
